of questions and answers

Contents of an email I sent to my family members:

heya!
I've got a question to ask. One that's been brought up quite often in my university after watching the movie Constantine. heh.
Genesis 6: 1 - 4 "
1When the human population began to grow rapidly on the earth, 2the sons of God saw the beautiful women of the human race and took any they wanted as their wives. 3Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, they will live no more than 120 years."

4In those days, and even afterward, giants[a] lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with human women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes mentioned in legends of old.

1) The 'Sons of God' the verse is refering to are angels right??
2) If angels were neither male nor female how on earth did they multiply with humans?
3) Are the giants they talk about here the same as The Nephilim mentioned in the NIV version. (cause some ppl were doubting the credibility of the NIV version)
4) Some just found it really gross that superior beings like angels could have just 'seen the beauty of women and took them as their wives". Wouldn't that be associated with lust as well?

I personally haven't watched Constantine. So would there actually be any reason to discourage me from watching it?
Ermm.... what about Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. Some people say that because it's blasphemous, Christians shouldn't read it. heh....maybe i shouldn't just trust people's judgements and just go ahead and read it. People are probrably just afraid that too many questions might be raised up about Christianity. Is it wrong to ask too many questions about your faith? Does it even matter? I could be just contented with knowing that "God loves me" without ever needeing to question the Christian church. Is stuff like the background of the Christian church important? Or am i just being ignorant for not questioning such things but just being contented in my justification of what i believe in as a personal thing, John 3:16 and 'Jesus loves me'?

Answers i got:

Hi Melisa. The reference to the sons of God and the daughters of men is a strange reference and I have never understood what that means. The thing I have learned about scripture is that when you don't know, don't jump to conclusions. People with their own agendas are always trying to read something into the scriptures and interpret them to fit into some wacko theories they have. The sons of God could well mean the same as the children of God and in that sense we are the sons of God. I also know of no reference in the Bible where angels are referred to as sons of God. God only refers to His people as children and to loving them like a Father loves His children. So really the reference to sons of God in my view does not refer to angels at all. I suspect it merely refers to those whom God still considered to be part of His family. Later on for example He instructed the children of Israel not to marry the daughters of the people of Canaan because of their idol worship.
With regard to the Da Vinci Code, from what I understand, the premise of the book is that Jesus did not die on the cross but instead married Mary Magdalene and had children by her. Out of this some secrets were carried forward which Da Vinci painted into the last supper scene. It is really fiction rather than fact. Many people think that the book has really uncovered some new evidence to prove that Jesus never died on the cross. And it skillfully plays up some old conspiracy theories that Rome knows the truth but is hiding it to maintain control etc. Of course that is all rubbish. I personally won't read that book or see the film because it is based on a lie. Why should I favor a lie about the God I serve. I know the God I serve. I believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God. And besides, I know that Satan has been trying to destroy the faith of believers for centuries with these kinds of stories.
There is nothing wrong in asking questions but just be sure that you look for answers in the right places. I'm sure that you know that movies like Constantine or the Da Vinci Code is not going to give you the answers to your questions. Hollywood does not have the answers for sure. Study the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to open the scriptures to you and give you understanding and He will show you incredible things. Jer 33:3-4 "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

U Dan (one of the sons of God)

Here's another:

In this passage the Angles were Fallen Angles and till today they are bound and unable to operate.Soon after God destroyed the whole earth.Angles are Spirit beings.Regarding the De Vinci Code it's so Anti-Christ,they also claim that Christ was married and had children. If i were you i wouldn't waste my money seeing that movie. The other movie i dont think should be a problem.

You mentioned an intresting question ,You just dont want to serve God blindly without knowing about Him.Sadly today most all christians dont really know God.They are a copy of a copy of what someone told them about the Lord. They have never experienced God for themselves.I think it's very Health for you to question and search and find out for yourself who God really is and not basing your whole Christian life on what someone else told you. Most christian's today are focusing on the devil and always on the look out for him while missing God .Always looking for the signs of the Rapture and talking about the last day's.As far as i'm concern we are not living in the last day's rather the Day of the Lord.I'm not waiting to die before i can go to Heaven .I'm already in Heaven. The kingdom of Heaven is within me.You can't see Heaven with your natural eye's ,Heaven must be experienced.I'm not waiting to be raptured any where. The kingdom of God is within me and i'm going to establish it on the earth.

Love,
Duncan
