broadband

So i'm sitting here in Starbucks.... feelin like one of those yuppies, only i'm dressed in an oversized T-Shirt and look like i'm about ready for bed.

This is probably the first time ever since MMU that i'm broadband-less. When i graduated, and moved to Bangsar, I actually had my broadband set up before I even unpacked my boxes!

Well now.... at my new place, we haven't set up our phones and internet yet.... but i'm still doing ok. I had DVDs to occupy my time and my books, but today..... i just wanna feel connected.

So here I am, drinking a Mocha Ice Blended - which i'm sharing with my sister, since we have only 15 bucks between us - sitting in pretty cosy chairs which a hundred other people have sat in before me - and i'm feeling a lil paranoid - like everyone's looking over my shoulder.

But anyway, the music's just right and kinda fits my mood at the moment - which is bodering between a contemplative grey and a depressive white. And as I was saying.... i need to feel connected....

But maybe..... broadband's not what I need right now....

Random

- I'm reading a blog where the writer's son is actually named Atticus. How cool is that!

- I keep thinking that I'm not this creative person anymore. I can't just sit and let the creative juices flow. I think that when you take out the cigarettes, coffee and constant state of depression.... i've just became.... a happy little hippo.
And i totally blame you for this elated being that i've become :)

- I'm down to the last portion and I'm holding You to your Word.

- Expect DIY this Christmas. Oh Joy!

pengat pisang

This country never ceases to amaze me. The variety of food we have is innumerable and working in Bukit Bintang has enabled me to sample delicacies i've never even heard of before!

Well today we decided to check out a new Malay/Indonesian joint which recently opened in one of the back streets. And as we were picking our dishes i noticed this large tub with stuff floating in it. Upon further inspection, my colleague exclaimed that it was "pengat pisang".

Basically what it is, is sliced bananas stirred with milk and gula Melaka. It looks like bubur caca only not. And not everyone Malay or otherwise can make a good pengat pisang.

Well the bowl we shared was awesome! I'm not one who usually eats questionable looking dishes but this was the bomb!

Change

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

And another reason to not forget the 5th of November...

yup he won!

Weekly Picks

In one of our courses at university, we did a whole semester of Photography. While people these days traipse around with their flashy digital SLRs, i had to sling my huge fully analog SLR which weighed like 1 tonne over my neck and manually adjust my focus which always came out a little blurry cause well...my eyes aren't all that sharp.

Over the years, i've come across many sites on photography and while some use a heavy dose of Photoshop, some just appear spoilt but yet beautiful. Like Lomo or even Polaroids.

I've recently stumbled upon a few sites which combine two of my favourite things in the world...words and photos.

I hope you'll be inspired by them. :)

I Wrote This For You - by Iain S. Thomas but I think the photos are from someone totally on the other side of the world from him.

Jesh de Rox - sent by Jason Ding. You can't help feeling like you're in love.
also read his blog here and and interview here.

Its so very very uncool to hit on someone when you're married and have kids too! and even more so if you're one of the managers and highly respected in the company. I swear i'll report you if you don't stop! lame ass jerk.
